student Diversity Statements

image29

Employers participate in SEMJF because they want to expand and diversify their pool of candidates for summer and permanent positions.  When bidding for interviews, students are required to submit a Diversity Statement which is shared with every employer and is designed to explain how the student helps the employer achieve that goal.

As you know, diversity can manifest itself in many ways.  Though SEMJF member schools do not dictate or limit who is eligible to submit applications, we have always encouraged students to help employers understand what they are bringing to the table in terms of diversity.

The required Diversity Statement is a way to help you think about how the student can help you diversify your workforce, broaden your client base, and learn how best to foster an inclusive environment for employees and clients alike.

Simply put, the Diversity Statement is designed to provide more information than just what’s on the resume and help you choose the candidates which seem best equipped to help you achieve your diversity goals.
